Visual Studio Code (or VS Code) is a source code editor that runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows and is free for private and commercial use. It has built-in support for working with JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js. A large library of extensions are available from the Extension Marketplace, including support for XML, Markdown, Python, and more.

VS Code software has a separate license from the source code, which is available under an MIT License.
