Description
Myria is a treebank-based vocabulary tool for Ancient Greek, part of the Pedalion project, containing roughly 6,000 lemmas (each with ≥50 occurrences in a large automatically annotated corpus). For every lemma the tool indicates in which authors and genres the lemma is strikingly frequent, which words are semantically related, and in which collostructions (salient collocations and constructions) the lemma occurs. Myria does not aim to replace dictionaries: for translations and lexicographical data it links to external resources such as Logeion and Wiktionary.
Myria contains an educational submodule, Chilia, that provides about 1,000 very frequent words. Each Chilia entry is illustrated by an authentic example sentence constructed exclusively from words in the Chilia list (except proper names), and a treebank is available for each sentence. This design encourages learners of Ancient Greek to study vocabulary in context using short, fully treebanked example sentences.
