Web fonts for ancient languges
Question
Which fonts with good coverage of ancient languages are available as Web Fonts for embedding in web pages?
Beginnings of an answer
- New Athena Unicode (download) offers a freely downloadable WOFF version of their font that includes many important features for ancient languages (including Egyptian, Arabic and other transcriptions). (For example, the EpiDoc Guidelines has a copy of the New Athena Unicode WOFF at http://www.stoa.org/epidoc/gl/assets/newathu5.woff for display of certain poorly-supported characters.)
- Cardo (information) is a large Unicode font specifically designed for the needs of classicists, Biblical scholars, medievalists, and linguists. It is licensed under the Open Font License. It is freely available for embedding on web sites via multiple font hosting services (e.g. Google Fonts and Adobe TypeKit).
- Junicode (information) is a Unicode font for medievalists. It is licensed under the Open Font License. It is freely available for download as an embeddable WOFF.
