Tesseract is an ongoing Google open source project for OCR. On February 19, 2013, Moheb Mekhaiel published on his website the results of his tests to train Tesseract for Coptic.

Alternatives

AccessTEI is a service for members of the TEI for manual keying of texts which can handle ancient Greek. As of June 2013, it is unknown if it can handle Coptic.
