The E-STAMPAGES Project aims at creating a digital collection of squeezes of ancient Greek inscriptions, presented in an interactive form. It will follow the principles of Open Access and Linked Open Data. The materials will come from two collections (including over 12000 squeezes):

Description

Taken from the project launch announcement (circulated 2019-02-21):

The E-STAMPAGES project aims at two main correlated goals: long-term archiving of the paper squeezes, in a digital format for conservation purposes; open access dissemination of this scientific documentation so useful for epigraphists. Roughly 6000 inscription squeezes, originating from four key sites explored by the FSA (Thasos, Delos, Delphi, Philippi), have been digitized and 3D views created in line with a procedure developed by the Digital Epigraphy and Archaeology Project.

They will be gradually available for consultation online with the help of a visualizing screen which features all the tools essential for the work of epigraphists, in particular the ability to vary shadowing. In tandem, the documentary metadata, collected from preexisting databases, have been structured, enriched and recorded in standardized formats and languages for the Semantic Web, to facilitate their interoperability with other types of resources for the study of Greek inscriptions — digital editions of texts in TEI/EpiDoc, photographs of inscriptions, Geographic information system (GIS), etc., to be connected at a later stage with the ectypothèque E-STAMPAGES.

Designed with Omeka-S which appears to be actually the most suitable CMS for our goals, the E-STAMPAGES website offers many ways to explore the collections as well as the opportunity to build exhibits representing epigraphists at work with their squeezes (the first one, devoted to Théophile Homolle and the study of inscriptions from Delos to be opened soon).
