Description

From the website (accessed 2018-10-30):

Scriptorium is an international journal of mediaeval manuscript studies founded in 1946. It is a biannual multilingual publication that essentially deals with codicology and the bibliography relating to European mediaeval manuscripts.

Scriptorium On Line – Computer version of the publication Scriptorium and the Bulletin codicologique. This catalogue website Scriptorium on line aims at rendering the written culture of the European Middle Ages accessible on the Internet for readers world-wide. To do so, it disposes of the following tools :

  • A cumulative index, per date and per institute of preservation, of the manuscripts reviewed in Scriptorium and in the Bulletin codicologique (1946 → 2014)
  • A complete summary, cumulative and per volume, of the articles, notes and material, chronicles and accounts published in the publication Scriptorium (1946 → 2014)
  • An exhaustive catalographic index of the works and articles reviewed by the Scriptorium (1994 → 2014)

In addition to listings for all articles published, the site boasts an extensive database of manuscripts referred to in both Scriptorium and Bulletin Codicologique: as of January 2012, 263,000 (introduction of annual tables 1946-2008) entries, 1,100 cities and 4,000 institutes of preservation inventoried.
